Healthy Lifestyle – The food choices we make and the physical activities we perform shape our today and tomorrow. Eating right and exercising can lead the way to a healthier lifestyle.

How Healthy Lifestyle?

Focus on balanced nutrition. Choose a variety of nutrient rich foods but stay within the daily calorie needs to maintain a healthy weight. Focus on fruits, vegetables, whole grains and low fat or fat free dairy products Choose lean meats, poultry, fish, eggs, beans and nuts Include foods that are low in saturated fats, trans fats, cholesterol. Choose Healthy Fats’ such as Avocados, Wild Salmon, Tuna, Flax Seed Oil, Olive Oil, Nuts, Natural Peanut Butter, Other Nut Butters.

Restrict sodium intake by removing the salt shaker from the table. Use other flavorings such as lemon juice, herbs, onion, garlic, pepper and other spices. Try to avoid processed foods and fats foods which may contain a lot of salt. Restrict sugar intake by avoiding sodas, replacing sweets with naturally sweet foods such as fruit. Try yogurt instead of ice cream.

Emphasize on foods that are packed with vitamins, minerals, fiber, antioxidants and low in calories. And EXERCISE!!! Schedule 30 minutes daily for physical activity.
